It’s not that hard to start making shots in Golf Clash once you get the hang of its simple pull and aim mechanic down. Even when you’re just starting out, it’s quite possible to rack up birdies on the easier courses right out of the gate.
Eventually, though, you’re going to run into much more difficult holes and be matched against more experienced players. No matter how good you think you are, it might not matter, because the competition will have the edge.
But all is not lost. Just like golf pros in real life, your Golf Clash game can take the next step forward with the right tools in your chest — or more precisely, the right clubs in your bag. Every beginner club can be swapped out for a number of rarer and more powerful clubs. In general, all of them are better than the equipment you have when you start.
Which clubs are just right for your particular game? To help you find out, we went through the stats for every club in Golf Clash to highlight the ones that are tops in each category. That way you know exactly which clubs are the best for the way you like to play. Consider us like your own personal virtual club pro.
And a quick note: Every club except for the beginner clubs can be leveled up by finding enough duplicate cards. With that in mind, the Epic clubs you find in Tour 7 will generally be the best choice for everything once fully leveled, but that takes a while. These evaluations will help you max out for your play style until you get to the highest level of the game.
With that, let’s get to the good stuff!

You’ve finally arrived. In Football Manager Mobile 2018, we mean. You’ve got your dream job coaching one of the top soccer clubs on the planet. Or maybe you’ve taken over a squad that you think you can shepherd to promotion to the top league. Either way, you’re the person in charge, and you’ve got 30 seasons to become a legend.
Still, you can’t run before you walk. What should you do in your very first season at the helm?
Glad you asked. We’ve started enough new game saves to map things out for you and get you off to at least a jog in your first season of Football Manager Mobile 2018, so read on and take what we’ve learned while taking our lumps to heart.
Decide What You Think You Can Accomplish
One of the first decisions you’ll have to make as manager is what you believe your team can achieve in the coming season. Depending on the club you coach, that could be anything from avoiding relegation to winning your continent’s champions league.
Promising more means you’ll have higher transfer and wage budgets at your disposal, but the trade-off is that the board will hold you to your promises and you might get sacked if you fail. When you’re just starting out, it might be a good idea to err on the cautious side unless you absolutely think you need the extra money.
Unless you’ve taken over a world class club, chances are you will have some staff vacancies. One of the first emails you’ll get upon starting your first season will be to meet your staff, and if you tap on the link therein, you’ll see a screen that looks like this:
Teams can have up to four coaches, three scouts and three physios. If you’ve got vacancies and your board allows it, tap the ‘Place advert for staff’ button at the bottom, and within a few days, you’ll be sent a list of applicants from which to fill them.
Find Your Club’s Weak Spots
Another email you’ll receive right away will be a team report from your assistant manager. It contains a link to an overview of your team that looks like this:
Pay special attention to the ‘Negatives’ column in the Team Summary, because it can help guide you on how best to spend your first season transfer money. The ‘Squad Depth’ tab is another helpful one, allowing you to tap around position by position to see what kind of talent you have on hand.
Let Your Assistant Do Some Work
Since you’ve got an assistant manager, you may as well have him earn his keep and handle some of the tasks you’d rather not. If you tap the ‘Manager’ icon on the left-hand nav menu and then tap ‘Manager Options,’ you’ll see this screen:
There are three things your AssMan (heh) can do for you:
- Manage the first team during friendlies.
- Handle youth promotions.
- Take charge of loaning out players from the reserves for more playing time.
All three are worth considering, but especially letting him manage friendlies. Because who has time for that?
We’ve got more tips for beginners if you need them, but you should now be squared away to tackle your first season in charge. May your Football Manager Mobile 2018 life be full of silverware!

So you’ve started your managerial career in Football Manager Mobile 2018, eh? Congrats! Now all you have to worry about is convincing your star players not to leave, watching your transfer and wage budget, keeping the board and fans happy, and oh yeah, winning. We’re sure you’ll do fine.
As an alternative, you can read these quick tips and make things easier on yourself when you’re just getting settled in. The choice is yours.
Start With a Rich Team
When you’re selecting a team to manage, it helps to pick one with some cash to splash. Whether it’s Arsenal (though then you might be tempted not to spend), PSG or Barcelona, clubs with money make everything easier.
Don’t Promise the Moon
One of the first things the board will ask you when you take over is what you think you can accomplish. You’ll be given more for wages and transfers if you promise more, but higher expectations lead to a greater chance of getting sacked if you fail to live up to them. Under-promise and over-deliver is the way to go at first.
Know Your Role(s)
There’s a crazy amount of depth in the tactics department in Football Manager Mobile 2018, some of which you’ll learn while experimenting over time. To start, you’ll want your best players in their preferred positions and their favorite roles. Look for the star when choosing from tactical roles for any player to see the one most likely to suit him best.
Take Things Slow on the Pitch
That doesn’t mean playing slowly, though that might be wise with some teams. Rather, the game engine in Football Manager Mobile 2018 defaults to a really fast speed. Tap the gear icon to bring up the ‘Match Settings’ menu and you can set the gameplay to Medium or even Slow until you get your bearings.

If Football Manager is the king of sports sims — and most people would say that it is — Football Manager Mobile 2018 is something of a young prince. While it doesn’t include all of the features if its sire, it’s got enough to reign supreme as the best of all mobile soccer management games.
Those who have never played Football Manager Mobile might be surprised by the number of different ways it allows you to play. The Career mode is the old standard, giving you 30 years to achieve as much management glory as possible across leagues from 17 different countries, including South Korea and the U.S. (huzzah, MLS!) for the first time. Challenge mode presents several different scenarios to test your acumen in more focused ways, from avoiding relegation to surviving a freak rash of injuries, while My Club lets you create your very own soccer team and add it to a league.
However you decide to jump into management, you’ll find a stripped down but still very robust sim. You’ll deal with transfers, squad management and tactics, just as you would in the PC game. The wealth of information you’d expect is literally at your fingertips, as the UI is intuitive enough with its combination of menu buttons and swipes to allow you to find almost anything you want to know in a manner of seconds.
The necessary compromises to fit this game on phones and tablets come in the more human side of soccer. There are no press conferences, no stirring halftime speeches and a limited amount of ways to interact with players. Some would-be managers may find this a big loss, especially if you fancy yourself a keen motivator of men. Others are likely to find this freeing since it forces a focus on tactics and the action on the pitch.
That action comes in the form of dots kicking the ball around instead of a 3D engine of any sort, but it moves along crisply and can be scaled down to make things easier on older devices. The devs have also made navigating between stats and substitutions a breeze, and live score updates from around your league give the feel of a living soccer world.
For those tracking such things, Football Manager Mobile 2018 does offer IAPs on top of its download price, but these are primarily for purchasing gameplay options that you can unlock yourself with enough play. It’s strictly a matter of patience versus a willingness to spend to avoid waiting.
Over time, it’s easy to imagine that Football Manager Mobile will grow to be even more like the full-on PC game as the devices in our pockets allow more soccer to be packed into a smaller space (there’s also Football Manager Touch 2018 to bridge the gap). Until then, this is the best way to see if you’re smarter than the gaffers you see in real life. And while you probably aren’t, at least you can have fun pretending.
